Hossam Labib was born in the village of Deir El-Bersha in Minya, Upper Egypt. He picked up a camera at the age of fourteen, beginning with photography before gradually moving toward cinematography and visual storytelling.
He studied cinematography at the High Cinema Institute in Cairo while developing his craft through hands-on experience across productions, sets, and commercial work.
His visual approach balances precision with emotion, with a strong sensitivity to light, atmosphere, and movement. His credits include the official promo for the 33rd Arab Music Festival "Umm Kulthum Edition" for the Cairo Opera House, while his Red Bull Egypt film Faris was featured in Ads of the World.
His music video MAMA was officially selected in four international festivals, including the Charlotte Asian Film Festival and the Jeju World MovieConcert Festival.
In narrative film, his short For Our Relationship to Complete premiered at the Arab Film Festival Rotterdam 2025 and received the Jury Prize at the Jerusalem Arab Film Festival. His short Dagen received a Special Mention at the Ismailia International Film Festival 2025, while his short Four Walls was selected at the Asian Cinematography Awards.
Whether shooting commercial work, music videos, or narrative films, he approaches every frame with the same question: what does the image need to carry?
